Fishing the Middle Deschutes - in search of Skwalas
I went out to the middle deschutes over the weekend and had great fishing starting around 11. There were prolific March brown and BWO hatches starting around 1 and slowing down around 3, with skwala stoneflies appearing sporadically. Soon rainbows and suckers will begin spawning and egg patterns should be a good bet as well. Remember that state parks are closed, and always be sure that you aren’t trespassing if you find a way down to the river. Give us a call and we'll help you with where to go to practice Social Distancing! Josh
As our popular waters get busier with the increasing number of anglers and the ever growing concerns about Covid-19 & Social Distancing, Fishing small off the beaten path waters can be just the ticket.
Tenkara is an old Japanese fishing style quickly growing in popularity among fly anglers around the world. Tenkara fishing uses a very long flexible telescoping rod with a short line and tippet attached to the end, no reel needed.
