Rio Versitips

How to utilize this effective swinging gear.

Rio Versitips are a versatile tool for anglers who want to quickly change sink rates and fishing depths without changing entire fly lines. These short, interchangeable tip sections attach to your floating line, allowing you to adapt to changing conditions throughout the day.

The Versitip system includes multiple tip options with different sink rates: floating, intermediate, slow sink, medium sink, and fast sink. This versatility means you can start with a floating tip in the morning, switch to a sinking tip as the day progresses, and adjust again based on water depth and current speed.

One of the key advantages of Versitips is their ease of use. The loop-to-loop connection system makes changing tips quick and simple, even with cold, wet hands. This is particularly valuable during winter fishing when frequent adjustments are necessary.

Versitips work exceptionally well for swinging flies for steelhead and trout. The ability to quickly adjust depth allows you to effectively cover different water columns and find where fish are holding. They're also excellent for fishing streamers in varying water conditions.

When using Versitips, match the sink rate to your fishing depth and current speed. Faster currents and deeper water require faster sinking tips, while slower currents and shallower water work better with slower sink rates or floating tips.
